Uplift Scholarship 2023

The Uplift Scholarship is available to graduating students who will enroll in college Summer/Fall 2023. To be considered, you must submit a completed Uplift Scholarship application along with two recommendation letters and an official transcript, and meet all qualifications.  Awards will be paid out directly to students after proof of enrollment, details will be provided to recipients.


3 Award Amounts

* One individual will be awarded $1,000

* Two individuals will awarded $500


Deadline: All applications must be postmarked by April 14, 2023


Recipients will be notified by: Friday May 5th, 2023

Scholarship Criteria

!Applicants Must Meet All Criteria Listed:

  • A U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident

  • Any person of Hmong descent

  • A San Joaquin County or Sacramento County resident

  • A high school senior, or current high school/GED graduate

  • Will be attending an accredited private/public college or university in Fall 2023

  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Winners must attend UPLIFT Scholarship Zoom Meeting


Scholarship Application Packet Checklist:

  • Copy of official transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation. One must be from a teacher.

  • Essay subject: Describe why you deserve this award. What aspect of the Hmong culture do you think is worth keeping for generations to come? 
    • Essay must be typed, 1 page Minimum, 2 pages Maximum, Single spaced with 1 inch margins all around, 12 pt font, *please include your name on header.
